Hello Friends!
My name is Madeline Lucier, I am a second year Elementary Ed teacher candidate, welcome to my website!
A little about me: I am originally from a small town on the Shuswap called Salmon arm, but my family and I moved to Kamloops when I was 13 – however I still think of Salmon arm as home. Now I live here in Victoria and share an apartment with my two best friends, for which I am immensely grateful!
My mothers family comes from the UK and my fathers ancestry is Metis from Red River area, which makes for a very complicated family history – but throughout the years I have learned that being indigenous is who I am not what I look like. My ancestors are a large part of my passions and creativity, as the Metis people have always been known as “thrifty” and sustainable in the ways they express themselves – a lot of those attributes have laid within me for my entire life, reminding me that my family is always with me.
When Im not busy with schoolwork, I love to make art and music, playing the guitar always calms me down if im having a hard day! I also have a pet lizard which I think its pretty cool. Im also pretty social, so I love to go out dancing, thrifting, and any outing to explore!
