Weekly reflection
This past week, our class had a fairly heavy discussion around internet safety and what that means in a classroom. One of the largest pieces that I have had to reflect upon in regard to my online presence is not what I post, but what I react to. in our currently technological world of tik tok and accessible media, i find that I consume much more than I release, and for a while I believed that to be a cloak of invisibility – when in reality is not. I don’t say this to scare anyone, let alone myself, I say it because large parts of my personal identity, my preferences and interests, aren’t as private as they feel. I want my future students to feel safe and comfortable interacting with content online, but also be aware that those reactions are also content.
Following our discussion with Jesse, my online practices will not change, but instead simply become more aware and tailored to fit what image I want of myself projected into the world.
