Weekly Reflection
January 17th, 2023

Firstly I wanted to include this awesome discussion board about the film “Most Likely to Succeed” that took part in our EdTech class. Questions are the key to learning, so I think it’s so valuable to document what we asked together.
After thinking and reflecting upon the film, I have a lot of initial thoughts. the biggest and most reoccurring is about how schools were originally created to prepare children to work in factories. I think a large portion of people within my age range (early 20’s) find it extremely daunting to not only succeed in school, but also be responsible for advocating for our own learning. There is a small bit of comfort in knowing that our feelings of unsureness and misaligned skills has a reason – that schools are preparing us for a life that isn’t attainable anymore- but there is a part of me that wishes that were not true. As a future teacher, I fully recognize that a large part of that responsibility is upon my shoulders, the responsibility of preparing my students for what follows their education; the scary part is that I dont know what that looks like. However, that is not within my control – so thus I will build a network of support and resource that is within my control.
